A new issue of the journal Acta Historiae Medicinae XL/2021 has been published. This issue deals with biopolitical topics with special emphasis on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in the Ottoman Empire, the sanitary conditions of the Habsburg army during the Great Turkish War 1683-1699, the role of the Archbishopric of Karlovac in combating the plague epidemic in Srem 1795-1796, then on the role of the Serbian Orthodox Church in vaccination of the population in Serbia during the first half of the 19th century, the fate of the Danubian Germans after World War II with the case study of the Pfeiffer family, then on epidemics of infectious diseases and mental health in Serbia during autumn / winter 1993 based on periodicals “Politika” and “Vreme”, while at the end the book Death, Illness, Body and Soul in Written and Visual Culture in Byzantium and Late Medieval Balkans, edited by prof. Dr. Vlada Stanković was reviewed.
